‘I am Kanchan from Purbapara. I have committed one murder, I will commit 100 more murders.’ This is how Kanchan, the main accused in the Rocky murder case in Gaibandha, was threatening in a video. One such video of his has gone viral on social media Facebook. The incident has created a sensation across the district.
This video came to the attention of the reporter on Friday afternoon. The video was posted from a Facebook ID named Shaon Zaman. The video was shared by a lawyer on Facebook. He claims that he is a lawyer of the High Court division and his family has been repeatedly threatened and attacked by Kanchan. The 47-second video shows Kanchan publicly threatening that he has committed one murder and can commit hundreds more if necessary.
The lawyer’s post mentions that the boundary wall of their house in Purbapara of Gaibandha city was broken and threatened to be killed in public. And the person who made this threat is Kanchan, the number one accused in the sensational Rocky murder case. He also claimed in the post that he is a drug dealer. Apart from this, Kanchan attacked his house with weapons several times. Despite informing the police several times, they did not take effective action. The police station recorded the latest GD filed last Wednesday night as a complaint.
The lawyer said, is this the new Bangladesh, where the accused in the murder case carries out terrorist activities against the lawyer’s family and the administration remains silent? At the same time, he sought the safety of the family from the countrymen.
It is learned that the accused Kanchan is the son of Nawab Ali of Purbapara area of the city. He is the main accused in the murder case of Ashiqur Rahman Rocky, General Secretary of Fulchhari Upazila Chhatra League on July 11, 2021. Kanchan is currently on bail in that case. He is a Dadan businessman. He wields such influence with the power of the Dadan business.
In this regard, Gaibandha Sadar Police Station-Officer-In-Charge (OC) Shahinur Islam said, “A case was filed last Wednesday night on charges of vandalism and threats in this incident. Our drive to arrest the accused is continuing.”
